Once we are Saved we become a new man, leaving the old man behind (*). Everyone can agree with that statement, However there is a difference between what Christians believes it to mean and what the Word of God says it means. Christians believe that Once you are Saved, then Jesus is in Your life and He forgives all of your sins that are past, present and future. Because you say you are with Christ and He will lead your life, this makes you a new man, because you now have Christ in you life, when before you did not. What does the Bible say about this subject?
So how is it possible that Christians today claim to be Saved when they do those things of the old man such as anger, wrath, filthiness, and lying. If Jesus Christ is your Master, you will do as He says and put off all those things which are evil, and become a new man, a new creation. But this generation of Nicolaitans would rather claim Jesus as their Savior and Lord ONLY, and do not what He tells them to do.
This is telling us to get rid of sin out of your life, by renewing how we think, we should no longer be of the old man because we were crucified with Him, when we accept Him as our Savior. And once you accept Him you are to no longer be slaves of sin. According to John 8:34 if you sin then you are a slave of sin. and Romans 6:6 says we should no longer be slaves of sin. Why is it that over 90% of all Christians say that we will always sin, if that is true then we will always be slaves to sin. Why then are their several versus which say no longer be slaves of sin, the only way that would be possible, is if we accept Christ as our Savior, all our sins are forgiven, and we no longer knowingly and willingly continue to live in sin. If a person no longer knowingly and willingly commits sin, then the same is no longer a slave of sin, just as it is written, We should no longer be slaves of sin. (for more info see the chapter Born of God and Slaves of Sin)
If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. A new creation. That's different than the way you lived before. i assure you if you claim to be Saved or claim that your going to Heaven and you continue to knowingly and willingly live in sin, you are no different than the old man. For the old man loves to sin, and knowingly and willingly continues to live in sin, so if you love to sin, and you knowingly and willingly commit sin, than you are by no means a new creation. For how can you claim to be a new person in Christ when you still do the deeds of the old person in Satan? |
