Spirit Within Us

There are several false doctrines being taught concerning the Spirit. Instead of addressing each one of these false doctrines, in this Article i will discuss things concerning the Spirit within us, in a general manner and hope it covers them.

There is a belief that our physical bodies will rise from the grave, that flesh will rise from the grave to live in the flesh again. Scriptures does not support this belief, it is a false doctrine that Nicolaitans like to teach and interpret the Bible to mean.

  • I Corinthians 15:44 It is sown a natural body (flesh); it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
So there are two different bodies, one that is a flesh body and another that is a Spiritual body. Our flesh dies and returns to dust as it is written:
  • Gen_3:19  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
The Spiritual body is the body that raises, not the physical body. Also Scriptures teach that flesh and blood shall not inherit the Kingdom of God. (I Cor 15:50)  Why then would the flesh and blood be raised? Flesh and blood inherit nothing but to return back to dust from wince it came. Do not listen to men who teach things contrary to sound doctrine. The Spiritual body however, when raised, will inherit everlasting life or everlasting damnation.
  • Luke 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy (by their works) to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 36 Neither can they die any more: for they are EQUAL unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
  • Matthew 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
  • Mark 12:25 For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
Those who are resurrected, after their flesh has turned to dust, are EQUAL unto the Angels as do the Above Scriptures teach. Jesus Christ Himself said plainly we become EQUAL with the Angels. And if you are able to receive it, our spirits within us, use to be Angels of  Heaven, consider:
  • Ecclesiastes 12: 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
In saying “Return” means it use to be there before. Believe what Scriptures plainly teach NOT what men teach.  If God gave the spirit that is in us, then that spirit came from God and where He is at, which is from Heaven.
  • Pro 8:22-30  The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
The Spirit in Solomon who wrote the above verses, existed prior to the Earth ever being created.
  • Jer 1:4  Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
The Spirit in Jeremiah who wrote the above verses, existed prior to Jeremiah being born a human being.

It is a misconception to believe Angels have wings, and fly around like they do in the movies. Scriptures themselves do not portray this at all. Now the Cherubim’s have wings, and 4 faces and these are a special kind of Angel. But most Angels are not Cherubim’s.

If you look at Genesis 19 two Angels went to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. They every bit looked human, even to the point in (Gen 18:2) called these Angels “men” they ate food as humans do, walked like humans, and talked like humans do, yet they were Angels according to Scriptures. Even the Angels that appeared at the grave of the risen Jesus, appeared to be men, so much like men, that they thought they were gardeners, yet they too were Angels. How can ordinary looking men – be Angels?
  • Hebrews 13:2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
So then Angels look every bit like us humans, in (Luk 24:4) both Mary’s see two men with shining clothes. We see in Matthew 28:1-5 Scriptures refer to these men with shining clothes as Angels

Matters of Fact NOWHERE in Scriptures does it describe Angels as having wings and the such (excluding the Cherubim), We know that satan can make people see what they “think” are Angels, wings, halo, and all. But never in ALL references to Angels in the Bible does it refer to them, other then human looking, with the exception concerning the Cherubims.

My point is, it is a great misconception to believe Angels in Heaven look any different then how Scriptures reveal them. To assume that they look somehow Superior (i.e. with majestic wings and the such) is not Scriptural. They are Spirits, they are not flesh and blood, but they are the spiritual bodies that we also will receive when Christ Returns, we will become like the Angels are and that is not flesh and blood from the Earth, but is a Spiritual body that can eat, drink, and everything else that Angels are able to do.

Angels walk this Earth, they look like you and me (humans), they do not have wings, nor do they appear to look like how society today says Angels should look like.

Demons were Angels, but only when they dwelt in Heaven, when they were cast out of Heaven, this is when they ceased to be Angels, and became demons. We ourselves use to be Angels, but when we were put on the Earth to be tested, we became spirits, and when that spirit entered into a flesh body it became a soul.
  • Hebrews 1:7 And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.
God made His Angels spirits, and the spirit that is within us came from God, so then we use to be Angels in Heaven, or more correctly said, we use to be spirits in Heaven.

God is a Spirit, according to :
  • John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Any spirit that comes from Heaven use to be an Angel, but if any Angel is exiled from Heaven, they are no longer referred to as Angels, but demons, even though they are what they are, Angels (howbeit, evil ones)

We must remember, according to Genesis we humans were created in their image for Scriptures say “Let US make man in OUR image”. We do not have wings. We look like the Angels in Heaven, Every reference in Scriptures that talks about Angels confirm this as well. Even to the point where Jesus Himself says we are EQUAL with the Angels.

Scriptures also teach we will bear the image of those in Heaven.
  • I Corinthians 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy (flesh), we shall also bear the image of the heavenly (spiritual).
If you look at (II Cor 12:2-3) we see here that Paul seen a man that was caught up to the third Heaven, but he was unable to determine if it was the man himself in the flesh or the man spirit, not being able to distinguish between the two. A way to explain this for an example would be to set two identical twins side by side. One is Man, made from the dust of the Earth (flesh) The other is NOT from Earth but from Heaven (spirit). Both to look at, appear to be Human men. Can't tell one apart from the other, nor could you tell them apart, unless the one who is from Heaven reveals Himself by something that would distinguish him from the other, like shiny clothes or what have you.

Scriptures also reveal that our vile bodies (flesh) will be changed or fashioned like unto Jesus Christ’s Glorious Body.
  • Philippians 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, … … …
Our bodies are vile because we are made up of Earth. Flesh is at enmity with Spirit, flesh is weak, flesh is filthy, flesh is Earthly, flesh is vile. Why then do men of today teach we become this kind of flesh from the Earth AGAIN, and call that flesh Glorified. They are in error, and do not understand this Truth.

So we will be fashioned to look like Jesus Christ’s Glorious body, we become even as Scriptures teach, AS ANGELS –EQUAL TO THEM.
  • I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be (Angels): but we know that, when he shall appear (Rapture), we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
If we are going to draw a conclusion about Angels through Scriptures only, and not from men and what they think and or believe, we then see Scriptures does not portray Angels to be anything other then spirits (which appear to be flesh, but isn’t) (Heb 1:7)

Now there are some who teach that the Spirit is born. Nowhere in Scriptures does it refer to a Spirit that is born. The Spirit within us comes from God, and if that spirit comes from God which dwells in Heaven, then that Spirit comes from Heaven where God is.

The Earth is incapable of creating a Spirit. How can something physical create something spiritual? Scriptures clearly says that the flesh and the spirit are contrary one to the other (Gal 5:17) and (Rom 8:7). A human man and a human woman cannot, nor ever will be able to create a spirit. The breath of life is given to us by God, that breathe of life is the Spirit. We see in (Luk 8:55) that when the girl died she did not have the spirit in her – we know this because Jesus made her spirit return to her again, and she lived. We see Elijah doing the same thing, returning the spirit to the dead body so that person can live again. (I King 17:21-22)  The Spirit is what makes us a living soul.

The Earth can only make things physical, the Earth makes the flesh, but flesh does not, nor can it live, without the spirit, without the breath of life given to us by God. Without the spirit the flesh dies and does not live.
  • Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
We see again that we live because of the Spirit God has given to us, from Him.
  • Isaiah 42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
This verse clearly tells us that God gives us a spirit, not that a spirit is born, but He gives it to us.
  • Ezekiel 37:6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. (and that breath is the spirit)
A spirit does not age, age is a property of the physical world. Spirits do not age, nor do they grow old. Spirits are immortal, and cannot die or be killed. All spirits will either live for eternity with God, or live eternity separated from God. Only flesh knows death. A spirit does not know death in a physical since. A spiritual death to a spirit is one that is separated from the love of God, which is far worse than any physical death.

A spirit given to a fetus at the moment of conception, sleeps or remains dormant until which point the Holy Ghost comes to that person who has the dormant spirit and awakens it through the teachings of Jesus Christ. The Spirit within this person’s body (with the help of the Holy Ghost) now tries to convince the person (flesh, human, mind) to the Truth of Scriptures. Now if the human mind rejects the teaching of the Spirit, because of things they are not willing to give up for Christ and the Truth, The Spirit is suppressed by the flesh, and cannot do what it is capable of doing, because it is hindered by the flesh.

But when the mind, body, heart, and strength of the person, obeys and believes the Spirit, then the Spirit within such a person is fully awake with its full powers, with full faith and all things become possible to that person, not because of the person, but because of the Spirit that is within that person and anything they ask in prayer comes to pass.

Everyone has this Spirit in them. But far too often the flesh, or mind, or heart conflicts with the Spirit given to them by God (Gal 5:17) . And in most people the Spirit is dormant or semi-dormant. The best way to describe this, is to think of a pendulum hanging down from a fixed point. The Farther it swings to the right the more awake the Spirit is and the more dead the flesh is. But the farther it swings to the left the more dormant the Spirit is and the more the desires of the flesh are being fulfilled.

The more we walk in the flesh the farther left the pendulum swings, or the more we walk in righteousness the farther right the pendulum swings and the more awake the Spirit becomes. Sad to say but most people’s pendulum is hanging down and to the left (lukewarm) (Rev 3:16) they altogether feel they will be OK as long as they are doing more good things then they are doing bad things, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For they fail to understand Biblical Truths, such as a little bit of leaven leaveneth the entire lump. And if a good tree produces even one bad fruit it is no longer a good tree but a bad one. God will deny all lukewarm Christians from being taken up with Him. Because whatever is making them lukewarm is the very reason they are denying Christ which could have helped them get out of that condition, but they freely choose selfishness and not service to our Lord Jesus Christ, by obeying Him and not that sin that so easily besets us.

Their Spirit is neither totally dormant nor is it totally awake. The Spirit does not grow, in the since, as flesh grows. A Spirit is not physical and does not grow, a Spirit only becomes more aware of itself when the body (person) who houses the Spirit changes toward the Truths that are taught in Scriptures. Even though the Spirit does not physically grow, it is considered a Spiritual growth the more awake the Spirit becomes. The more a person’s mind and heart turns to righteousness and away from sin, the more aware the Spirit becomes, in turn the more Spiritual that person becomes. Which opens up more spiritual knowledge from His Word.

My point is this, the Spirit that is in a newborn baby is the same as a Spirit that is in the elderly. However the Spirit that is in the newborn baby is totally dormant, asleep (pendulum to the far left) while the Spirit in the Elderly varies depending on how much that person has conformed his/her life to walking the walk of a True Christian (pendulum can be far left or far right fully awake, or somewhere in-between these two, Hot/Cold/Lukewarm)

It is extremely difficult for a mind, which is made from the Earth, which is prone to carnal thinking, to grasp things that are Spiritual.

The more Spiritual a person becomes (pendulum to the far right) the more information (that is Spiritual) that is revealed to that person. Pendulum reaches a certain point, prophesy is possible, to another point, hearing the Lord audibly is possible, to a certain point healing is possible, to a certain point, whatever you say comes to pass, God (the Holy Ghost) reveals to whom He reveals depending where they are at on the pendulum.

The Spirit needs to be fed, if it is going to experience a Spiritual Growth. And how you feed that Spirit is accomplished by reading or hearing the Word of God. Of course the more you read the Word of God, the more your Spirit is fed, the more your Spirit is fed, the stronger your Spirit becomes, and the stronger your Spirit becomes the more it is able to help you walk the walk of a True Christian, to Love One Another, to live in obedience. For without the Spirit to help you, it is impossible to do while living in this early flesh on this Earth (at this time)

Want to live a righteous life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ, Continually read the Word, so that your Spirit will grow and be strong enough to help you when you are tempted to commit sin. And when you are tempted to commit sin, repeat the Lord’s Prayer until that temptation is gone or get your Bible and read it until it passes. Eventually satan and his demons will tire trying to tempt you, knowing they always fails when they try, therefore they will tempt less and less. Therefore the more you win the victory over temptations, the easier it is to win the victory over them when they come again, AND the less frequent they will come. So then it gets easier and easier, all one needs to do, is to start winning the victories over temptation.

satan does not tempt me very much any more, he knows when he tempts me to commit sin, all he is doing is giving me blessings. When satan tempts me to commit sin, first i will thank God that i am being tested and for allowing me the opportunity to please my Lord and Savior by not doing what satan is tempting me to do. This upsets the devil a great deal. So when satan tempts me and i don’t do that sin, satan has failed and Jesus has won, and God then will bless me sometimes thirty fold, sometimes 60 fold, and sometimes 90 fold. And since satan KNOWS that every time he tempts me to commit sin, that i will not do it, i will not obey him, he rarely ever tempts me to commit sin any more, he knows by tempting me to commit sin, all he is doing is allowing God to bless me abundantly. i think he has counted me as a loss he doesn’t bother me much any more. Don’t misunderstand me, satan will never give up trying to get you to live in sin, if he fails one way he will try another, and as long as you live in the flesh, he will use that flesh against you. i am only saying it gets easier and easier to walk away from his temptations, the hardest part is starting.

Heb_12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Scriptures are clear, God wants us to set aside our sinning. But this generation does not want to do that. This generation would rather continue to do that sin that so easily besets us, and merely repent of it every single time we do it, all the while thinking to ourselves, we are still Heaven bound. There will be much weeping and gnashing of teeth, for how many people call Jesus Lord, but do not do what He says? His Word teaches us Christians to set aside that sin that so easily besets us, if you are not doing as the Word of God instructs us to do, then i assure you, we will all be weeping and gnashing our teeth.
